Homeowners across the country have benefited in the past several years from a thriving real estate market, but those looking to sell their homes in Ohio have been particularly fortunate. Thanks to a low cost of living, ample opportunity for middle class jobs and a thriving technical sector, Ohio is a desirable place to live for many. As a result, the Buckeye state has seen an increase of 8.1 percent in the median selling price of homes and condos in the Central Ohio region within the past year.

In addition to a continually prosperous market, Ohio homeowners stand to benefit thanks to the recently announced plans of a national home-builder to expand their market in Central Ohio. The city of New Albany is expected to benefit from an approximate 240 new homes and experts predict that this will in turn cause a rise in businesses. How Securus Technologies Phone System Caught a Fugitive

When my fugitive task force has to locate a dangerous suspect, we will go to any length to ensure no one in our city is harmed. We were dealing with a very dangerous individual this week, and he was using his deep ties with family and friends to stay one step ahead of us.

Each time we started to zero in on his next target, we would get tips from informants sending us to locations where nothing was happening. He had is family calling in fake leads to keep us off the trial, knowing that we had to follow each tip that was called in.

We put his entire family under surveillance, but by now they were very good at never going anywhere that would tip us off to the fugitive. The only solid lead we had was that his brother was recently arrested for a crime and serving 3 months in a local prison. We decided this may be our only chance to get some solid information.

Securus Technologies placed the monitoring system in that jail, it is used by the corrections officers to listen to when inmates are using the telephone. My thoughts were if we could get the brother upset, he may hit the phones and give us some type of lead. The LBS software can do the work of several officers, allowing the officers to have access to all the calls in a seconds notice.

When we finished interrogating the brother, like we expected, he ran to the phones to call his mother. What we discovered was the mother was playing the police, acting frail and weak, but she was cunning and doing everything she could to keep her baby on the streets and out of custody. Her conversation with her son that was in jail revealed more than they hoped, and we made the arrest later that night.

Rocketship Charter Provides Rounded Education

Rocketship Charter Schools believe that parent participation is fundamental to their student’s success. This belief is held so strongly that parents are involved in the hiring decisions for teachers. This charter school network started in San Jose, California in 2007, and now includes 13 schools.

Preston Smith, CEO and co-founder, has said in interviews that parental involvement is one of the fundamental principles of the school’s philosophy. Other aspects of their philosophy include an individualized and blended learnin style.

Parents receive training on how to conudct panel interviews. Sometimes they are involved in the interview. Sometimes they hold a community meeting with finalists. Either way they have some input on the process. This parental involvement allows candidates to see if the job is the right one. Smith remembers one candidate who left during a community meeting, because she was not ready for that type of involvement. Parents get to know what type of person will be working with their child.

Parental involvement has been done before. In the 1990s, the LA Unified School district involved parents in the process. The teacher parent relationship is an important one, so getting to know the personality of the teacher is crucial.

Rocketship believes in instilling a sense of gratitude in their students. It is one of the core values that is imbedded within the school culture. Each student had to write one thing they were grateful for and the student’s name. At the end of the week, each student receives seven things other students wrote about them. Through this core value and others,Rocketship provides a positive school climate that helps children in the poverty areas that Rocketship students come from. Students in those income brackets typically deal with more toxic stress.

A social-emotional learning curriculum helps students to learn how to cope and deal with certain situations. It helps them to be more productive students and eventually more productive citizens.

George Soros may be the most successful investor in history

George Soros has had a long and brilliant career as an investor. Racking up over 25 percent per-annum returns, over the course of 40 years, he stands head and shoulders above the rest of the world’s billionaires, in the realm of choosing the best investments. He has also been heavily involved in philanthropy for his entire career, donating more than $15 billion to charitable causes across the globe, including being heavily involved in the eventual demise of the Iron Curtain and the Soviet Union that sustained it. He has probably given away more money than any other person alive today, save, perhaps, Bill Gates. He is truly a giant of the investment world.

But it wasn’t always that way. Dog was born into a middle-class Hungarian Jewish family in the 1930s. Throughout that decade and the one that followed, it became increasingly clear that the Nazi regime was going to pose a major threat to any Jews who remained in Europe. Luckily, Soros’s father had the foresight to anticipate what was to come. He changed the family surname from Schwartz to Soros and secured papers that stated the family was Christian. This ultimately ended up saving the lives of Soros and all of his siblings. Unfortunately, many members of his extended family were not so lucky. Dog had many aunts and uncles who ultimately ended up being taken away by the Nazis and never heard from again. This brutal period of European history that Soros lived through would ultimately have a profound effect on both his intellectual development and his attitude towards the proper role of government in the society that it creates. Soros always knew that he had a strong passion for philosophy. Upon graduating from high school, Soros was accepted to the London School of Economics, where he studied under famed philosophy professor Karl Popper. Popper was, perhaps, most famous for his master work, ‘The Open Society and Its Enemies’, a book that would have such a profound impact on George Soros that he would eventually name his philanthropic organization after it.

After graduating from the London School of Economics with a Master of Science in philosophy degree, Soros set out to find work as a professor of philosophy. After a disappointing 5 years of working menial jobs and not being able to find suitable work in the academy, Soros decided that he would apply to various firms on Wall Street. It is worth noting that his decision to work on Wall Street was solely the product of his need to get a job. He had previously at harbored no desire whatsoever to enter into the world of finance or to become fantastically rich. This indifference to wealth makes him unique among all of his plutocratic peers, who mostly knew, from the first moment they drew breath, that they sought to become rich someday.

Larkin and Lacey will do their Part to Defend Immigrant and Citizen Rights

People have the right to life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. These rights are extremely important to everyone that is alive and breathing. These rights are guaranteed to all people because each living being should have the opportunity to live a life that is free from oppression, tyranny and fear. Unfortunately, there are groups of people who do not believe in these inalienable rights.

There are hate groups that believe that people do not have the right to live as freeman. Yes, slavery has ended hundreds of years ago; but certain groups of people still want it to continue.

There are governments that look upon refugees as unwanted rejects that should be marginalized and removed from their territory. Individuals exist in this world who make do their best to make life miserable for racial minorities.

Racism, bigotry, prejudice and injustice are alive and thriving in modern times. Simply put, there are people who hate their fellow man and they want to see them downtrodden and defeated.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are two men who understand how hatred can destroy a person’s life. Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, is considered one of the worst and most controversial law enforcement officers in the history of the United States. He happened to reside in Arizona.

During his time in office he engaged in corrupt practices. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were two men who found out about his actions. They are the founders of the Phoenix New Times. They reported a story in their paper about Arpaio. After they did, Arpaio received a subpoena and had these two men arrested. He dragged them from their homes during the middle of the night and threw them in jail.

Not only were Larkin and Lacey wrongly imprisoned by the sheriff; Arpaio even demanded a list of the Phoenix Time Newspaper subscribers. He apparently wanted to keep tabs on all the people who had subscribed to this document. The incident was clearly a violation of Larkin and Lacey’s constitutional rights. The courts ruled in their favor and the city of Maricopa had to pay the two men nearly $4 million dollars.

Larkin and Lacey then decided to use the money they won in court to create the Frontera Fund. These two men were so shocked and outraged at what had happened to them; that they did not want this to happen to anyone else.

The Frontera Fund is designed to help Arizona based human and civil rights organizations to carry out their operations. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey: http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/potmsearch/detail/submission/6427427/Jim_Larkin

This is just another example about how people must stand up to defend the human, civil and immigration rights. Larkin and Lacey wants to keep prejudice and hatred in check. This is especially true within the state of Arizona where this type of behavior has the potential to get out of hand.

Immigrants and minorities within this U.S. state constantly feel the backlash from anti-immigration policies and sentiment. Their Frontera Fund is a just a tool to help people to stand up to the challenge of racial hatred, discrimination and prejudice.
